Instead of discarding potted perennials at the end of the season, consider planting them directly into the ground. This allows them to establish deeper roots and return vigorously the following year, eliminating the need to purchase new plants.
Get Them in the Ground Before Frost
Take advantage of a nice fall day before your first frost to get your plants out their containers and into the ground. Be sure to mulch them once they’re in the ground to protect them from the cold spells ahead!
